    What is the Scarritt-Bennett Center?

Scarritt-Bennett Center, home of the 2012 Managing Ourselves Conference, nestles in the center of Nashville, adjacent to Vanderbilt University and within earshot of Nashville’s famed Music Row. Originally the campus of Scarritt College, which trained educators, the non-profit Center now plays host to a wide range of business, social and educational conferences.

Built of colored crab orchard stone and scattered on a spacious, tree-filled campus, ten modified Collegiate Gothic buildings provide meeting, lodging and dining space for Scarritt-Bennett’s many conferences, retreats and multicultural educational events. Twenty-five breakout and meeting rooms, a research library, a popular museum of world cultures and a fully-equipped auditorium round out the Center’s offerings.

    Guest Rooms

Most guest rooms are single occupancy with one twin size bed. Each room shares a bathroom with the adjoining guestroom. Guest rooms with shared bathrooms will be assigned by gender. Accessible rooms are available for conference attendees who have mobility concerns.

    Dining

We will dine in Scarritt-Bennett’s spectacular Gray Dining Hall. With its two-story English casement windows overlooking Scarritt-Bennett’s leafy yards and its comfortable seating for 125 people, Gray will provide a relaxing place to recharge. The catering staff gladly will accommodate your need for Kosher, Halal or allergen-free meals when arranged in advance.

What’s the best method for air travel to Nashville?

Hands down, Southwest Airlines! Nashville LUVs (yes, we’re business nerds) SWA and getting here is really easy.  The Scarritt-Bennett Center is only 15 minutes from Nashville Airport. We’ll arrange groups of students in order to share taxis from the airport after we get your travel details. Splitting the cost of the ride will save you a few dollars and will allow you to meet some of your new colleagues immediately. If you don’t live in a Southwest city, many other national carriers also service Nashville International Airport.

  • “Helped me get an internship”

“I loved my Managing Ourselves experience. I’d attend again, but I can’t because I got a summer internship [in London]. When I interviewed the recruiter loved the idea of Managing Ourselves; he asked me a lot of questions about it and I think, ultimately, it helped me get the spot. I also wrote about Managing Ourselves for one of my common app college essays. I’ll get the word out and will be more than happy to share my fantastic experience.” - Scott, 2011 MO graduate
