Packing List

  • Note: Your room will have sheets, blankets, towels and some small bars of soap.

    Packing list suggestions:

    • Laptop (we do all of our work using online collaboration tools so make sure your wifi works)
    • Digital camera and cables so you can download photos/videos (don’t forget memory cards and chargers)
      • Label all of your electronics with your name and contact information for safety
    • Casual clothing for hot weather (please keep it appropriate — your picture will be online)
      • If you’ve ever seen someone wear it on Jersey Shore you shouldn’t bring it
      • You may want some extra clothes to change into here and there because it’s so hot
      • T-shirts, shorts, sandals, close-toed shoes (they help with mosquitoes during evening hours)
      • Lightweight layers for sleeping (there is A/C in the rooms which means it might actually get cold at times)
      • Caps or visors and sunglasses are suggested (bright, hot sun)
    • Two business casual or professional outfits for your final presentations (we’ll be filming for your porfolio) and for your profile videos (again, for your use later)
      • We won’t spend a lot of time dressed up because it’s so hot, but you’ll appreciate looking good in your portfolio
    • Toiletries (they are not provided in the rooms as they might be in a hotel except for small soap)
    • Any medicines you need, in original pharmacy labeling, please (the release forms will ask you to list them as well)
    • Sunscreen, bug repellent
    • Hairdryer, if needed (the rooms do not have them)
    • Personal sized snacks are ok, but please don’t bring anything perishable. We’ll also provide healthy snacks for between meals.

  • “Helped me get an internship”

“I loved my Managing Ourselves experience. I’d attend again, but I can’t because I got a summer internship [in London]. When I interviewed the recruiter loved the idea of Managing Ourselves; he asked me a lot of questions about it and I think, ultimately, it helped me get the spot. I also wrote about Managing Ourselves for one of my common app college essays. I’ll get the word out and will be more than happy to share my fantastic experience.” - Scott, 2011 MO graduate
